Social Media Optimization (SMO) and Social Media Strategy

Search engine optimization, or SEO for short, has been the best way to achieve a higher ranking in search engines through added value and interesting content. Google has always placed a special emphasis on natural backlinks created by users and not by search engine optimizers. Nowadays, however, more links are artificially created than naturally set. Rebuilding natural-looking links is becoming increasingly difficult. In recent years, social media has undermined structures that were long the preserve of search engines. Social media has an influence on the ranking As a result, Google can no longer escape the growing influence of social media as an important communication channel on the Internet. For a long time now, Google has been crawling comments written on Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram in addition to posts. All included media, links, mentions and trends were included in the Google algorithm as additional factors to determine the position in the search results. The extent of the influence of these factors has not yet been clearly established. However, the first signs indicate that the number of likes, shares and comments have an influence on the ranking. The social linking is important Although all links from social media are marked with the Nofollow attribute, Google has confirmed the positive influence of links from social media portals on a page. “Yes, we do use it as a signal. It is used as a signal in our organic and news rankings. We also use it to enhance our news universal by making how many people shared an article.” It’s not just links from users and social media profiles that can positively influence a page’s ranking. Backlinks are no longer measured only by PageRank inheritance, but actual traffic has also become an important quality factor. Which blog has the most influence? Which website gets the most traffic? The right combination of SEO and social media offers clear advantages for both channels and can improve rankings through strong interaction. Read More

UI/UX Design: The Standoff Between Figma and Elementor

Exploring the benefits and drawbacks of skipping Figma, and diving straight into Elementor like a bull in a design shop. Overview In the digital realm, time is of the essence, and the patience for pixel perfection is a scarce commodity, especially when budgets are tight and the clock is ticking. Figma, the darling of the design realm, is where ideas get a face, a personality, and developed into fully fleshed out ideas. But then there’s Elementor, the pragmatic cousin who’s all about getting the job done, sans the frills. Here we delve into the tug of war between conceptualizing in Figma and executing in Elementor. But what about Webflow? The main reason I’m not touching Webflow is because typically speaking most companies already have their sites on WordPress. This makes Elementor a way easier sell, and allows them to keep the same infrastructure they’re used to, instead of having to migrate to Webflow’s hosting (or exporting as a site, but that also has its problems). So for now, we’ll leave that and Framer off the table for this discussion. The Problem with Designing in Figma Figma is like that elegant soirée where ideas are dressed in the finest pixels, colors are paired with a sommelier’s precision, and the layout is a reflection of a meticulous mind. t’s a place where the design cognoscenti sketch the future, one vector at a time. But alas, the journey from this oasis to the real world is fraught with code. No matter how divine the design, it must descend into the realm of code to come alive. This translation often feels like fitting a square peg in a round hole, where the subtleties can get lost, and the code becomes a cage rather than a canvas. Yes, there are tools that can ease this transition, but the actual quality and fidelity of the output varies considerably, and typically doesn’t cut it in an actual… Read More

Microsoft unveils new Bing with ChatGPT powers

Microsoft has announced a new version of its search engine Bing, which incorporates the latest in artificial intelligence. The overhaul deploys OpenAI's ChatGPT technology, which has taken the world by storm since its launch last year. The move is by far the biggest threat Google has seen to its dominance in web search - and marks the beginning of an AI arms race between the companies. "The race starts today," Microsoft boss Satya Nadella said. Developed by Microsoft-backed OpenAI, ChatGPT uses deep learning techniques to generate human-like responses to search requests. Mr Nadella said he thought it was poised to change the nature of online search - and interactions with many other software. "This technology will reshape pretty much every software category that we know," he said. Bing will now respond to search queries with more detailed answers - not just links to websites. Users are also able to chat with the bot to better tailor their queries. More contextual answers will be added on the right hand side of a search page. The new Bing search engine will be live right away - with a limited number of searches for each person. The announcement comes a day after Google revealed details of its own new chatbot, Bard. Both companies are scrambling to get their products to market. In a note to investors after the announcement, analyst Dan Ives of Wedbush Securities said he thought that Microsoft's investment would "massively boost" the firm's ability to compete. "This is just the first step on the AI front ... as [the] AI arms race takes place among Big Tech," he said. Microsoft, an early backer of San Francisco-based OpenAI, has been investing billions in artificial intelligence. Last month it announced it was extending its collaboration with OpenAI in a "multiyear, multibillion dollar investment". It has since announced a new premium tier of Microsoft Teams - its messaging software - that will feature ChatGPT, including a feature that automatically generates notes and highlights of meetings. Microsoft said Bing will use OpenAI technology that is even more advanced than the ChatGPT technology unveiled last year. The powers will also be incorporated into its Edge web browser. Analysts say ChatGPT - which has been used by students to pass exams and tests - has the potential to be incredibly disruptive to multiple professions, including journalism. But it has been criticised for confidently giving answers that are wrong. It also works on datasets that are generally scraped from 2021 or earlier - so many of its answers can feel outdated. AI Could Be the Next Platform’: Silicon Valley Investors Rush to Find the Next ChatGPT

ChatGPT, Silicon Valley's latest app sensation, has investors rushing to find the next big thing in generative AI, the technology that some hail as the beginning of a new era in big tech. Artificial intelligence (AI) has been increasingly present in everyday life for decades, but the November launch of the conversational robot from start-up OpenAI marked a turning point in its perception by the general public and investors. "Every so often we have platforms that come along and result in an explosion of new companies. We saw this with the internet and mobile, and AI could be the next platform." said Shernaz Daver of California-based Khosla Ventures. Generative AI, of which ChatGPT is an example, wades through oceans of data to conjure up original content - an image, a poem, a thousand-word essay - in seconds and upon a simple request. Since its discrete release in late November, ChatGPT has become one of the fastest growing apps ever and pushed Microsoft and Google to rush out projects that had until now stayed carefully guarded over fears that the technology wasn't yet ready for the public. "Just five days after its release, a million people used ChatGPT - about 60 times faster than it took Facebook to reach one million users," said Wayne Hu, a partner at SignalFire, another venture capital firm. "Suddenly investors are all talking about how ChatGPT might eliminate millions of knowledge worker jobs, disrupt trillion-dollar industries, and fundamentally change the way we learn, consume, and make decisions," he said. The explosion of generative AI comes at an otherwise morose time for the tech sector, with tens of thousands of layoffs cascading through the world's biggest companies as well as smaller ones that are struggling for survival. "While other categories are facing a contraction in valuations and raising capital, generative AI companies are not," said Daver. Entrepreneurs specializing in generative AI say they no longer need to scream out for attention when hunting for cash or walk through the details of what they are trying to offer. "It's helped us a lot," said Sarah Nagy, founder of Seek AI, a start-up that allows nonspecialists to extract technical data from a database using queries in everyday language. "Before ChatGPT... I had to explain what generative AI is, and why it matters," she added. Now the appetite for ChatGPT-like capabilities is seemingly limitless, and not only from investors. "The demand from customers has increased a lot," said Nagy. "It's even hard to keep up, because we're still a small company." The entrepreneur wants to grow her team and, according to Daver, while the trend is to downsize, "we are currently hiring" in generative AI. In the last few weeks, it is mainly the giants that have been in the news, first and foremost Microsoft, OpenAI's partner and investor, followed by Google, which is trying to keep up. But in their shadow, a galaxy of start-ups have ideas on offer too. Other recent examples of funding rounds include California-based Kognitos, which aims to automate administrative tasks, and the platform for designers Poly that can whip out 3D graphics or maps in seconds. In addition to the usual venture capitalists, tech giants are on the lookout, like Google, which just invested $300 million to acquire 10 percent of newcomer Anthropic and its chatbot Claude. Hu said the ChatGPT "gold rush" could be unprecedented and expand well beyond Generative AI because the very technology itself minimizes the need for a computer coder or designer to execute ideas. "Now you no longer need to get a Stanford PhD in computer science: any developer can build something amazing on top of ChatGPT and other foundation models in one weekend." "This wave of AI could be bigger than mobile or the cloud, and more on the scale of something like the Industrial Revolution that changed the course of human history," Hu said. WhatsApp Will Soon Let Users Save Disappearing Chats as ‘Kept Messages’: Report

WhatsApp may soon enable users to save disappearing messages. The Meta-owned instant messaging platform is reportedly working on a feature called "kept messages" that will allow anyone to temporarily save a fleeting disappearing chat and keep it as is (for everyone), even if the message has expired. A kept message is shown to have its own visual cue to differentiate it from other chats. Disappearing messages are ones that users can choose to send to other users with a time limit after which they are deleted automatically from all connected devices. WABetaInfo, a WhatsApp feature and update tracker website, has spotted yet another feature in development that may give users more control over these disappearing messages. The kept messages will not be deleted automatically from the chat and will continue to appear to all users even after their expiration date. Users can, however, choose to un-keep them at any time, and the chats will then be deleted for everyone. Messages that are saved will reportedly have their own bookmark icon to distinguish them from other chats. The feature's availability remains unknown, as the report states that it is "currently in development and is not yet ready for release to beta testers," adding that "WhatsApp is working on bringing this feature to a future update of the app." WhatsApp's disappearing messages feature, which debuted in 2021, is inspired by apps like Snapchat and allows users to chat more discreetly. However, unlike Snapchat, messages on WhatsApp are protected by end-to-end encryption. Users can also delete messages from a recipient's device after they have been sent. Users have the option of specifying who these messages can be deleted for — specifically for themselves (delete for me) or for everyone (delete for everyone). Renault, Google Expand Partnership in Software Services for Future Vehicles

Renault and Google said on Tuesday that they are expanding their partnership in software services for future Renault vehicles, adding that Google will become the preferred cloud supplier to the French automaker. The partnership with Google will also help Renault accelerate its "end-to-end digital transformation, from the design of the car to its market launch through its production," Renault Chief Executive Luca de Meo said in a statement. Automakers and technology companies including Sony, Apple and Google, have been working to develop ways to build future cars into platforms more like smartphones, with billable services where key updates are wireless. On Tuesday, AFP reported that the automaker will pitch investors on its planned green revamp, with two spin-offs. Renault will announce a new EV unit and a subsidiary for thermal and hybrid assets. The EV market is expected to grow rapidly in response to consumers' worries about climate change, putting pressure on manufacturers to develop fewer polluting products. The European Union last month agreed to phase out new CO2-emitting vehicles by 2035, a move set to turbo-charge the production of electric prototypes on the continent, according to the report. The flagship division of the carmaker's reorganisation is Ampere, a split-off expected to employ around 10,000 staff in France and produce electric vehicles in the north. It plans to invite investment in Ampere but would remain the majority shareholder. Renault also intends to combine its technological, manufacturing, and research and development activities for its hybrid and internal-combustion vehicles in a subsidiary called "Horse". The subsidiary is expected to employ an estimated 19,000 people across Europe, China and South America, according to the report. For more info, check this link below: https://bit.ly/3DVykoW
